The Roatan Chocolate Factory: A Sweet Experience in the Heart of Roatan

Located in the charming West End of Roatan, Honduras, The Roatan Chocolate Factory offers a unique and delightful journey into the world of chocolate. Founded in 2010, this socially and environmentally responsible factory creates some of the finest chocolates in Central America, made with 100% organic cacao sourced directly from the pristine Rio Platano Biosphere Reserve in La Mosquitia rainforest. Visitors can indulge in a variety of chocolates made without any oils, fillers, additives, preservatives, or colorants, guaranteeing a pure and natural taste experience.

A Flavorful Visit and Beyond

The factory showcases three types of chocolate — white, milk, and dark — with 12 distinctive flavors including island coconut, chile, sea salt, island almond, island cashew, coffee, and passion fruit. Visitors often rave about the mouthwatering fresh-baked goods and the welcoming atmosphere, making it a must-visit destination on the island. Guests can also immerse themselves in the chocolate-making process by joining a hands-on, two-hour chocolate-making class, available through online booking.

Beyond the delightful treats, The Roatan Chocolate Factory is deeply dedicated to supporting local indigenous communities and conserving the rainforest. Its commitment to environmental protection and wildlife conservation is an integral part of the chocolate production journey. Conveniently located beside souvenir stores, the factory provides a complete and enjoyable experience for tourists seeking both sweet flavors and authentic island culture.

Open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM, the factory welcomes chocolate enthusiasts to explore, taste, and learn about the art and science behind genuine chocolate. Whether you’re a casual visitor or a devoted chocoholic, The Roatan Chocolate Factory offers something truly special in the vibrant heart of Roatan.

The chocolate is mouth watering and the El Cabrito Diablito hot sauce might be the best I've ever tried. We plan on buying more from their website. The hot sauce was 7 dollars so that's a great price in my opinion. The coco chocolate beans were 20 dollars and they were not as expected so I don't recommend that, but all in all, a great place to visit in Honduras. Also as an added benefit, there are a few souvenir stores right beside it where I got this hand painted shot glass.

My wife and I just got back from a week in West End, and we found ourselves at the Chocolate Factory every single day. After we did the chocolate making class, I was absolutely obsessed. I love their chocolate as well as their fresh baked goods; everything we tried was exceptional! I also admired all of their conservation efforts as well as their dedication to 100% cacao products. If you’re planning a trip to the island, make sure to leave room in your schedule to check out the Chocolate Factory!
